About the facility
The Voxel Medical Diagnostic Centre in Warsaw is a state-of-the-art facility specialising in advanced diagnostic imaging. We offer a full range of computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans, as well as a wide selection of specialist examinations.
Our Area of Expertise
We have unique expertise in diagnostics:
✅ Heart and circulatory system – non-invasive tests that enable a thorough assessment of the heart and blood vessels.
✅ Oncology – modern imaging techniques enabling the early detection of cancerous lesions.
These examinations include, amongst others: • computed tomography of the heart and coronary arteries (CT coronary angiography) • magnetic resonance imaging of the heart • mpMRI of the prostate (multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging of the prostate in accordance with the PI-RADS guidelines).
We carry out scans under the National Health Fund (NFZ) – CT scans – as well as private scans – MRI and CT scans.
What specialist tests do we carry out?
Coronary angiography (CORONARY ANGIOGRAPHY)
When should you consider having a CT scan of the heart?
- To rule out coronary heart disease in patients at moderate and low risk of developing it.
- In patients where other diagnostic tests (SPECT, exercise test) have failed to yield a definitive diagnosis, particularly where the patient’s symptoms are atypical.
- In the monitoring of patients with risk factors for coronary heart disease (smoking, high blood pressure, obesity, age, high cholesterol). A particular group requiring monitoring are people with diabetes, in whom coronary heart disease may be asymptomatic or present with mild symptoms.
- To check the condition and patency of bypass bridges.
- When assessing suitability for cardiac surgery.
- Before the ablation procedure.
- In patients who refuse to undergo conventional coronary angiography.
- In cases where coronary artery abnormalities are suspected (including in athletes).
- To accurately assess cardiac morphology and function in patients with reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (cardiomyopathies) who have contraindications to cardiac MRI.
Are there any advantages to coronary tissue testing over conventional coronary angiography?
- Minimally invasive – the scan takes 5–10 seconds, does not require a catheter to be inserted directly into the heart, and the contrast agent is administered solely via a venflon inserted into the antecubital vein, just as with any other CT scan.
- The ability to carry out a qualitative assessment of atherosclerotic plaques and their potential stability or possible risk of rupture.
- Simultaneous assessment of the anatomy and function of the heart muscle.
- Diagnostyka sąsiadujących z sercem struktur, bez dodatkowej dawki promieniowania RTG.
Magnetic resonance imaging of the heart
WHEN DO WE CARRY OUT MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING OF THE HEART:
- In the assessment of cardiac function, morphology and anatomy.
- patients with heart failure or cardiac dysfunction (assessment of the cause: ischaemic, post-inflammatory, or of unknown aetiology).
- For patients eligible for surgery (angioplasty, coronary bypass surgery) – assessment of life expectancy.
- Assessment of myocardial damage following a heart attack.
- In people with valvular heart disease.
- If a tumour or blood clot is suspected in the heart chambers.
- Before ablation procedures.
- In cases of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (including athletes).
- In pericardial diseases.
mpMRI: magnetic resonance imaging of the prostate gland
WE PERFORM MRI SCANS OF THE PROSTATE FOR THE FOLLOWING PURPOSES:
- Staging of prostate cancer – including assessment of regional lymph nodes and any infiltration of neighbouring structures.
- Selecting the appropriate type of treatment based on the results of the mpMR scan.
- Monitoring of patients in the low-, medium- and high-risk groups.
- Assessment of the prostate in patients who have undergone treatment and in whom a rise in serum PSA levels has been observed.
- Further diagnostic investigations in patients with suspected prostate cancer, despite negative MRI-guided biopsies.
Do we carry out tests on children?
Computed Tomography (CT) – yes – from the age of 14,
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) – yes – from the age of 10.
Note:
For the scan to be carried out, the child must be able to lie still and remain motionless for the entire duration of the procedure. The scan is performed without general anaesthesia – this type of anaesthesia may only be administered by an anaesthesia team. The decision to administer a contrast agent is made by the radiologist on a case-by-case basis.
