This means that a patient with a DILO card may, for example, be referred for a PET scan as part of an in-depth diagnostic process, which the healthcare provider will settle directly under their contract with the National Health Fund (NFZ). A healthcare provider that does not have a PET/CT facility within its own organisation may commission a PET scan from an external provider on the basis of a contract.
