About the facility

The Magnetic Resonance Imaging Unit is equipped with a SIGNA HDxT scanner with a magnetic field strength of 1.5T, which utilises new imaging technology. We are committed to patient comfort and strive to minimise the duration of the scan.

Do we carry out tests on children?

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) – yes – from the age of 4.

Notes:
For the scan to be carried out, the child must be able to lie still and remain motionless for the entire duration of the procedure. The scan is performed without general anaesthesia – this type of anaesthesia may only be administered by an anaesthesia team. The decision to administer a contrast agent is made by the radiologist on a case-by-case basis.
