About the facility
The Magnetic Resonance Imaging Unit in Bochnia opened in August 2020.
It is located in the building of the Blessed Marta Wiecka “District Hospital” Independent Public Healthcare Centre, within the Diagnostic Imaging Centre (level -1, one floor below the A&E department). The centre is equipped with a 1.5 T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner. We carry out scans for private patients and under a contract with the National Health Fund (NFZ). Our centre holds certificates confirming compliance with the ISO 9001:2015, 27001:2013 and 14001:2015 standards.

What tests do we carry out?
MRI scans
- examinations of the nervous system: head, pituitary gland, eye sockets, facial skeleton, cerebral angiography, cerebellopontine angles, spine (cervical, thoracic and lumbosacral regions),
- examinations of the musculoskeletal system: wrist, hand, scapula, elbow joint, shoulder joint, sternoclavicular joint, ankle joint, knee joint, hip joint, sacroiliac joints, foot, lower leg, thigh,
- genitourinary system examinations: dynamic examination of the pelvis; gastrointestinal system examinations: dynamic examination of the abdominal cavity.
Do we carry out tests on children?
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) – yes – from the age of 10
Notes:
For the scan to be carried out, the child must be able to lie still and remain motionless for the entire duration of the procedure. Minimum weight: 35 kg. The scan is performed without general anaesthesia – this type of anaesthesia may only be administered by an anaesthesia team. The decision to administer a contrast agent is made by the radiologist on a case-by-case basis.
